It's a Cruel (Cruel!), Cruel Summer

Last night, I decided It Was Time To Walk Around the Yard.

Dear Heavenly Diety, what the fuck was I thinking?

If you have a broken foot, don't go walking in grass. That is Very Important Information to know.

And to top off nearly falling and breaking my neck (multiple times), the fucking camera decided to be judgmental -- either you take photos with the flash or run the risk of nearly all the photos being blurry.

Well, fuck you too camera. Here's the three (three!) photos out of thirty that aren't too blurry to post.

Let me warn you... the garden is no longer a pretty sight.

The triangle. It use to look like this.

Fucking foot.

Fucking heat.

The island. The hydrangea bush is about to die, as is that tree on the side. It use to be pretty, like this.

Fucking foot.

Fucking heat.

And nearly all of our grass is dying. Not just turning brown, but dying. It use to be green, like this.

Fucking foot.

Fucking heat.

Yeah, this broken foot has definitely set back the garden goals by two years, at least.

You're not the only one with a fried garden. Mine looks pitiful. I should post pictures soon, but it's too embarrasing.

At least you have an excuse! My garden looks awful and I've only got the fucking heat to complain about! Of course having a neighbour that VACUUMS his yard after he mows it does not make out yard look any better....

make OUR yard. not make out yard. I haven't made out in our yard for a good long time. Too many chiggers.

I can barely walk on our lawn, and I'm able-footed. It is very lumpy.

I think everyone's yard is looking pretty crispy right now. Our hydrangeas are very droopy. I hope yours comes back. The grass will be fine though.

KC gardens are so pretty in spring. I have to think about that in August.

poor yard. Our yard looks about the same...it's a sad, sad, sight.I've got no excuse though. Sorry the garden tour was not a pleasant one. Here's to NEXT year's pretty landscaping sans broken foot.

Ugh! You know what you should do? Just flip flop the pictures - make the "befores" the "afters" - its far more impressive that way! :)

I like your street - looks like a nice neighborhood....

And Laeroport? I was all intrigued by the thought of a "makeout yard"!!!!

How frustrating, I remember how many hours you put into your yard this spring. I am sending Internet hugs and the hope that your foot get completely better, and your garden miraculously survives.

You can call me Betty, or Bethany, or Beth ...Just don't call me late for dinner. said...

Oh those needy gardens.. Mine got all crispy during the West Coast heat wave.. all the blooms on hydrangea tured brown too and it double sucked because it was the first year the stupid deer didn't eat them.

so much work.. Hey.. your echinacea look pretty good though..

Thinking cool thoughts..

Yes, it's been a cruel summer. Our garden looks pretty pathetic too. What to do???

How annoying, but it'll be back in the spring when you're running about again and able to enjoy it. And in the meantime - don't go out there! Look at the old photos and feel smug instead.

Oh! I feel so sad for you and your garden. I couldn't garden for over 3 years after I became pregnant with my son. Not only did the garden areas die, but the entire back yard went to weed. It should only take a lifetime to get it back to acceptable. I hope you are able to get back to it soon, and that it doesn't take too long to get the garden back into shape.

oh WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

You crack me up. I love your garden. Even with the foot and heat. *sigh*

Oh noooo! Im so sorry that your lovely garden has taken such heavies. At least fall is a nice time for trimming and pruning and general cleanup. It will probably come back really nicely next year and you wont even remember how trashed it is right now...except you took pics to document it.

i bet it's killing you that your grass is all brown. i'm sorry..... but if it makes you feel better, here in ohio there are lots of dead lawns and gardens. but you do have a good excuse (fucking foot) so don't feel bad........

Sorry. It probably would be better had you worked/watered - but maybe not.

At least you know what survives a KC summer without attention. Plant more of those and less of everything else!
