Zippity Doo Wah Out on the Ground

It was a lovely day at the park, playing with friends. When all of the sudden, Griffin began screaming, "Darwin ate wheat! Darwin ate wheat!"

Yeah.

Darwin ate some Cheatos from some kids we don't know.

Which apparently don't have wheat but are still filled with soy and cheese.

Darwin's allergic to soy and dairy.

I had to shove my finger down his throat to make him throw up.

In front of my friends.

And then I had to rush him home to give him benadryl.

Dude. Food allergies suck major ass.

wow, I can't imagine the daily stress of keeping your child safe from food. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. At least Griffin knows the importance in telling you.

Man, did you get a look at the mom's face? The chee-toe mom? Seriously, the whole time she was completely clueless like "I know you were just being nice honey. Those people are crazy to not like chee-toes."

What kind of people are so junk food crazed that they can't even play at a playground without carrying the bag around on the slides and swings? Last time we were there some kid was running around with a box of nilla wafers! What the heck?

Oh no...what a rotten way to end a play date! I think I would have to do the same to Rich if he eats dairy...although, he's pretty good at keeping himself safe (just not the same if it's an adult is it?) I'm really glad that Griffin told you so that you could take care of it so quickly, and hopefully head off too major of a reaction.

And if it's not those things, it's the MSG in them. My house is vegan and gluten-free; I feel your pain.

I think I might have just outed myself as a lurker here.

HOLY CRAP. That would not be cool at all. Dam those cheetos. Although I'm a little shocked they have actual anything in them.

At least you got out to the park, right? And talked with your friends, right?

Today is all about banging our heads against the wall sitting inside watching it pour! :)

Cheers! LA

time to craft a shirt that says i'm allergic this that and the other and wear it every time you go to the park. if they don't get the message then paint pictures of the things he can't eat with little red circles and lines through them.

How good is Griffin for giving you the heads up? I hope the littlest man is doing okay. Stay sane today with all the rain. Are you coming up for the parade on Sunday?

Cheetos. That's not even FOOD, is it? I'm not going to go there.

Glad he's doing ok. Sorry about the puke, but at least your little hall monitor was able to clue you in.

And the park with friends. Awesome. xo

That's serious shit. You must have to be on the look out all the time for wheat and dairy. Sorry to hear that.

Hope he's feeling OK! There are probably at least 20 bad things in Cheetos.

oh sweetie, I am so sorry.

I'm flabbergasted that the other mom allows her kid to pass out food. or that she let him eat it without checking with you first.

poor baby.

That's scary! Poor kid. Hey, I see they have single-serve Benadryl now...I've been thinking of carrying some in the old mom bag.
