We are Living in a Material World and I am a Material Girl

Aaron made good on the birthday follow through. The boy did good.

For starters, from Griffin and Darwin I got...

... an Easy Bake Oven and extra pans. I've always wanted an Easy Bake Oven and have complained about it for years. So now I have one. And now I get to figure out gluten-free recipes for it.

Then, from Aaron...

... an iPod Shuffle and a wireless remote for our Playstation 2. So now I can play Pac Man without yelling at the children to stop jumping over my wires. And I have an iPod. An iPod people. I'm like, at the cutting edge because it's the Shuffle. And it is seriously the size of a quarter.

And now I'm counting on all you good people to tell me how to get music on it without paying 99 cents a song at the iTunes store. Okay?

Then, as an added bonus on top of all my phone calls and cards, I received two surprises in the mail...

... fabrics and lip balm (and stickers and candies for the boys) from Lera. Thank you so much! You should have heard me gasp! (I recently complained that I could no longer find the flower-y fabric.)

And...

.. a beautifully embroidered hankie from Lori. Thank you! I love it so much!

It's amazing (and a little sad) how getting stuff on my birthday makes me really happy.

And thank you for all the wonderful and amazing birthday wishes yesterday. They made my day. Thank you so much!

I just wanted to send you a little (and little it was) something hand made to let you know I was thinking about you and celebrating with you. I'm glad you liked it. Rock on with that ipod, chiqua! Good job, Aaron!

Yay for a good husband! What great gifts!
As far as music goes, subscribe to a newsgroup (some internet providers subscribe automatically- We had Cox in VA and it did.) I think we use Giganews. Then download Grabit. Once its downloaded, you can search by genre. We get whole discographies through it! Let me know if you need any more info.

Woo-hoo! I'm so glad you got an Ipod. (I will cancel the hitman immediately.) Mike has just been putting our CDs on his, using itunes.

Hope we can get together soon (as soon as I've recovered from The Virus of the Week)!

An ezBake oven and an iPod - the birthday elves were very, very good to you! (no less than you deserve!)

And the "Ladies Who Blog*" outdid themselves, too...that's some serious goodness there...

I was going to drop you an email this morning - even before I read this post! - to alert you to a good free download at the iTunes MusicStore...

What do you get when you mix Damon Albarn (Gorillaz, Blur) with elements of the Clash (Paul Simonon) and the Verve (Simon Tong)??? You get "The Good, The Bad and The Queen" - and the free download "Herculean" is quite, quite good...

Glad everyone is out of the doghouse - and happy, happy day!

*what Schecky calls all the... well, ladies who blog!

ack! I'm sorry I missed your birthday. Hooray for the ipod, you can put your own music on it if you don't want to go thru itunes.

xoxoxoxo

also, I think an easy bake gluten free cookbook would sell like, well, like hotcakes. . .

I have to say that I am very happy that Aaron came through on your birthday. I was worried sick about it all last night!!! Seriously.

And, when you told me you wanted that fabric, I went the next day and bought what was left on the bolt. I asked if they were going to get anymore and they said NO! I hope it's enough.

(And, any allergies to the Burt's Bees??)

Glad your day was special and that you got mail goodies too.
Gluten-free with an easy bake!! How cool is that? You'll be including that in the kid cooking section of you cookbook, right?

I am so relieved that the man pulled through for you on this one. I'm so jealous of the easy bake oven! I always wanted one of those when I was a kid.

Presents for my birthday always makes me happy too and I've decided not to worry about that making me seem like a materialistic ho. It's fine to be excited to get gifts twice a year.

Hooray for the Easy Bake Oven. My girls got one for Christmas and they LOVE it! And it's great because they can do all the baking they want and I don't have to help at all. Such a huge sense of accomplishment for them.

Happy baking!

You can call me Betty, or Bethany, or Beth ...Just don't call me late for dinner. said...

Oh lucky you...and a rousing "good job!" to Aaron...I absolutley LOVE my nano...and don't know how I lived without it...in fact, I am trying to figure out how to get the 30 gig iPod (because 2 gigs are just not enough...I need 14 hours of music, with a 4 hour battery...oh, and movies)

And the easy bake? Wonderful, I always wanted a Baby Alive...I suppose at this age though, I should just have a realy alive baby...
