Careless in Our Summer Clothes, Splashing Around in the Muck and the Mire

What's that saying? The road to hell is paved with good intentions?

Yesterday we intended on taking the boys to see the fireworks. For the first time ever.

And I intended on barbequeing a huge meal.

But Mother Nature had a completely different idea.

Gah.

So we rolled with it.

Which? I'm actually not so good with that.

But the boys had a blast.

Of course
, it cleared up to a beautiful, cool evening. And the children completely passed out before we could even discuss seeing the fireworks.

Oh well. Next year, perhaps.

hey, that looks like our afternoon too. After the camping fiasco, Arlo and I crashed early but Maisy got to see some fireworks.

That looks way more fun than staying up late to watch fireworks! I loved doing that as a kid.

Our plans were also altered by mother nature, we watched star wars and empire strikes back, we plan to continue the madness tonight with return of the jedi and episode 1, forget what that one is called, and then we are netflixing the rest. Our neighbors were not detered by the weather and we got to see quite a show out the windows will we were enjoying the movies in the house.

I'd say that looks like a fun way to spend the day!

How fun that looked! We sweated, I mean, enjoyed temps. of 104 here! I'm glad you still got to cook-out, and I'm hoping that you and Aaron enjoyed the fireworks (and maybe a little of your own?)

That looks like fun. I know it probably wasn't cool, but it looks cool there.

We BBQ in the rain at my girlfriend's Brooklyn backyard. We also skipped the fireworks cuz of the rain. Your boys look like they had a blast!

Frankly, I was thrilled when I realized that all that rain would bring down the temperature as quickly as it did! :) Looks like those little puddle stompers had a blast.

You have the perfect driveway for puddle-jumping. Looks like fun!

Too bad about the fireworks. Luckily they don't really know what they're missing. Maybe next year.

Looks like a good time. My boy loves a good 'peddle', as he says it.

No good deed goes unpunished. I love that one, it always gives me an excuse to be selfish (j/k). We had rain here too. The guys swam in the rain, and the inlaws grilled in the patio... endangering all the house occupants. I'm glad your boys still had a blast!

Whoa! Those photos!! The bottom one is YOU and the one above it is Aaron!!! Did you notice that?

They will have all of their life to watch fireworks, but only that moment to be little boys and play in the rain. Puddles were made for jumpin'! Great pics.

My day didn't go as planned either. But it was 90 degrees and you just wait. They will soon be harping at 6am to do fireworks.

well, of course the boys had a blast - splashing rocks. we should all do that more often.

to be a kid again! I used to love puddle jumping and playing in the rain, coming home soaking wet.

Not so much now. I hate being out in the rain, I hate my clothes being wet, and the worst is wet shoes.

But the boys look like they had a ton of fun.
