Storming Through the Party Like My Name Was El Niño

On Tuesday Griffin got three (three!) cavities filled at the dentist.

Yeah, dude, you can totally thank your father for that set of genetics.

After the appointment, he was a little puffy and sore. I indulged him in unlimited smoothies and popsicles.

Yesterday morning Griffin's lip was really fat. Fatter than it had been Tuesday. But, you know, oh well.

By the afternoon, though, it was totally disgusting. It was white in the center and you could see the swollenness from outer space. The Mars Rover was actually able to pick up pictures from it.

So, I called the dentist and heard a lot of it's totally normal and it takes one to two weeks for the swelling to go down and it's totally normal and that's the way it happens some time and it's totally normal.

And by this morning, ::sigh:: there's no way this is totally normal.

Dude, it's green in the center. Green. Gross. Even for me, dude, that's disgusting.

So I called the dentist again. You know what they said? Totally normal.

Ah, dude, I don't think so.

(Yes, antibiotics are being called in. And we usually don't even use antibiotics. But we sure as hell are using them today. Gah.)

I hate it when doctors just reply "It's normal". Gah. It's so frustrating. I hope the poor dude feels better soon. :)

poor kiddo...definitely Not normal. Isn't it fantastic that you can call the Dr & say "little Timmy is vomiting out of his belly button" & they reply...perfectly normal. Helloooo...you'd think they could at least pretend to care & not make you out to be a hyper paranoid parent ;)

I guess I'm missing something here... how is that normal? Normal from what exactly? That looks like a contact sore from Latex. Is he allergic to Latex?

Poor baby! I hope that gets better pronto!!

Ouch that looks sore. Interesting fact- teeth are sterile when baby is born and become inocculated in the first 12 hours. Andother reason to keep the great aunt with bad breath away a little longer! Hope you can get it cleared up soon.

I guess you figured it out yourself, but that does not look normal!
Hope the antibiotics help soon!

WHAT? Totally normal? Yeah. I think not. I hope it gets better with the drugs.

They always think you're overreacting. I was once on the phone with 911 (real, actual, life or death thing. She actually almost died) And they thought that when I said, "Her neck is swollen larger than her head," that she had gotten a bump that was swelling. (long story- she fell and poked a hole in her windpipe on the coffee table and she was literally filling with air!)

But, I digress. That lip is awesome! And gross! If it hadn't gotten so out of hand, I would have suggested having him swish with a few drops of tea tree oil in water (if he is old enough to not swallow). We try to avoid antibiotics too, but sometimes it just gets outta hand and you've gotta do it.

Poor guy.

That doesn't look formal. Poor kid! Take the antibiotic! Griffin must have a good pain threshold. Ouch!
Good luck!

it's lucky I'm not a spewer, because I sure didn't see that photo coming - good god, if that's normal, I'd be changing dentists!

Yikes-a-roni! If that is normal, I'm never going to the dentist again.

I hope the little man gets better soon!

Normal? Geesh. They're gonna get sued if they keep doing that to patients. That looks nasty!
