And My Weakness is That I Care Too Much

On Saturday I got the worst haircut of my life.

Okay, maybe it doesn't beat that time in junior high, on picture day, when I decided to trim my bangs and I ended up scalping myself. But, IT COMES DAMN CLOSE.

My hairdresser and I have one firm rule: my hair must be able to be pulled into a ponytail. In the very least, piggy tails.

So when I told her to "lop it off" and "make it manageable," I most certainly didn't mean "make me look like William Sledd, BUT WITHOUT THE PRETTINESS."

But oh my hell, I can't do anything with it.

Me: Why can't I get a damn decent picture of myself? OH YEAH, RIGHT -- BAD HAIRCUT.

Aaron: It's not that bad.

Me: Yes, it is.

Aaron: No, it's not. Instead of being a ten, it's like a nine.

Me: You FORGOT TO ADD THE NEGATIVE.

Aaron: No really, it's not that much different.

Me: So, what your telling me is THAT MY HAIR ALWAYS LOOKS LIKE SHIT.

Griffin: Mommy, your hair is ugly now.

Darwin: I no like it Mommy! Put it back, put it back!

Oh my hell, it self feathers.

So, if anyone wonders? I'll be lying in bed listening to The Cure for the next six months while my hair grows out.

Oh no...not the Cure don't go down that road (it's almost as bad as me and all that wheat and dairy last Fri. night) I think it looks cute...cute mess as the boy would say! You also have an amazing rockin' cool profile! Damn...just walk around sideways from now on (oh, and I think the feathered thing is in again, just remember to keep a comb in your back pocket)

You know, I actually kind of like it. It's the wrong season to not be able to pull it off your neck, but if you can use some product, you could get it to do a really cute flippy sticky-outtie thing. Can you use products? I'd use one of those gooey or hard ones that comes in a jar.

Not so bad. Really. And think of the cute hairclips you can make for it.

This is why I have been procrastinating on getting my hair trimmed... Right now I can pull it into pigtails or pull the top part back into a ponytail, but I am afraid if I get my hair trimmed I won't be able to do either. Which just wouldn't be good!

Maybe you could use a headband? That would at least get it out of your face...

i love it! i love it! you are so pretty! look at those eyes!

but i hear you on the ponytail.

my stylist has forbade me, yes forbade me, from that length because if it is near ponytail length that is how it will be worn. without end. constantly.

but i really do think it's pretty.

a headband will keep it away from the front of your face, which will help. see, aren't i helpful :)

Look at the opportunities - Lotta Jansdotter sunhat?

But its not that bad. I had the whole princess Di feathered thing going down in the 80's and believe me, it was far, far worse.

Well, at least you're not listening to the Smiths. THAT would require an intervention.

I don't think the hair is that bad, but ya know, it's not my hair.

And I've never heard of WS but that video was a riot. RIOT! Off to look for more!

Ah, come on. It's cute. And who doesn't like self-feathering?

Um, am I one of the girls that can pull off a pinky ring? Because I've been wearing two on my right pinky for, oh, the last 7 years.

I still don't think it's bad. But if the Cure will help, go ahead and listen! I personally have made bad hair my trademark.

Not that this is going to change your mind even the littlest of little bits ('cause you're all like stubborn 'n stuff?) but I *like* it!

It would bug me not to be able to pull it up into a ponytail on lazy hair days (aka: "every" day, if you're me...) but I think it's awfully cute! I like the texture, it looks like it would move nicely...

I don't think it's bad at all, but hey, you are the one that has to be happy. Sorry you aren't!

Hey, I like toe rings! I think that guy has some mommy issues... but he is very pretty.

Anyway, I know what you mean about not being able to pull your hair back, but as chickenbells said, the feathered thing *is* coming back. And don't listen to what your kids say, they usually just hate it when mom changes her look, whether for good or bad.

I wish my hair self-feathered. Awesome!

I didn't even know that hair was able to self-feather... AMAZING :)
You look lovely!

Yeah, I'm with everyone else - it's cute! REALLY!!! But I could see how it's not as handy as being able to put it in a ponytail. Unless your hair just naturally dries like that - in which case I'm VERY JEALOUS!!! Because it would take me an hour with a blowdrier to do that. It's funky. I like it!

Oh My gawd! I love that guy. Made my day. I'm still giggling and I have removed my pinky ring, ankle braclet and toe ring..........actually I am happy to report that I have never owned any of those.

Now, your hair.......let's talk. It looks very cute! Are you crazy? I understand the pony tail rule, I have the same one that I just broke too. But after about a week my hair learned to behave at a different length and people like it.........at least they say so. :)
I like your hair. And I think you are so cute too.

Give it 3 days. I ALWAYS have to wait 3 days after a haircut until I can decide whether or not my hairdresser must die. Seriously.....it's that important.

Does is count that I think it is cute? I know, I know. You have to live with it. But look at all of these people who like it!

I like it!!!!!

And it self feathers!!!!!!!! How funny is that?

shut up. it's cute.
and if you're going to be listening to the cure - at least listen to 'friday, i'm in love' - a happy song.

i am sooooooo sorry. there is nothing worse than a bad haircut. its not THAT bad. and hopefully your hair grows quick. it doesn't really matter whether anyone else thinks its cute or not. you have to look at yourself in the mirror in the morning. keep your head up babe!

TinkerBlue said...

Well I like it.

You can do lots with it - headband, barettes etc etc.

I like Darwin's comment - Put it back!

"self feathers" *SNORT*

hahahahahaha!!!!!!

Seriously, I think it's cute, too

cheryl said...

Well I think it looks good. And hello, feathering is back IN. Isn't it? Or was that last week? Ah hell...anyway, it looks good and you are having really bad hairmorphism (as opposed to bodymorphism).

Angelina said...

I have to say honestly that I think it looks pretty darn good on you. But having said that, the thing is, it doesn't matter one flying-Jesus-Monkey what I think because if you have a haircut that you hate you will just feel like crap. I should know because I've really only gotten one good haircut in three years.

The rest of the time?

They all make me look like a conservative politician's wife with a stick up my bahooky.

So I have come to fear and loath getting my hair cut. Which I desperately need to do now. But I don't want the trauma. So instead I'm settling for looking like a worn out pasty soulless flaccid haired moron. It's got it's own special charm, you know?

You are fucking crazy, lady.......
All I can see is your GORGEOUS FACE!
Seriously!

Another vote for it being cute! Pigtails are still do-able. They just have to be a little higher! Get some cute barrettes and you're good to go.

Logtar said...

I don't think is horrible at all. I agree with your hubbie

Angeleen said...

I was too busy laughing may ass off to notice your hair... Is that wrong?

I WILL NOT give up my toe ring. It's been there for over ten years and my toe will go into a severe and irreversable depressive state should they be parted. I know because once, an over-cautious pedicurist took it off and my toe stayed cramped for a week!

The WS's wedding cake vid is the best, though. The boy is a true exhibitionist.

But, seriously, I think your hair is almost as cute as your face. I'm with Aaron. OH. And, never take fashion advice from small boys. They, after all, think Spider Man undies and a Darth Vader cape are perfectly appropriate grocery shopping attire.

I wonder if that's how William Sledd got his start... though it was probably "Hello Kittie" undies and a tiara instead...

You look FABulous, Dahling!

oh, shut up. You look hot like always.

floresita said...

Awww... you're being too hard on yourself, but don't feel so bad because... I too had that haircut a couple of years ago! And my boyfriend told me I looked like a Chinese boy. A lot. And I cried, A lot. But, hey, it grows back, you know. Get a cute headband or make yourself these cute barrettes and I know you'll feel better!

Listening to The Cure is a good thing. Robert Smith is lovely. He's intelligent and has an interesting way of putting on lipstick. ;)

The good thing about having a bad haircut, is that it will grow out. (tho you don't look bad with that haircut)

btw, been meaning for ages to say hi!

oh, be quiet, capello! it looks adorable!!!!!!

Feathering! I'm timewarping back to the 70's. During which, my hair would never feather. Thank god for 80's and big hair, at least I didn't need a perm. That's it! You can get a perm! But really, I think it looks good. The boys are wrong.

Now I know why your kids are so damned cute!

Renee said...

I think it's really cute! How on earth can you think it's not?

Oh, good grief. Shut up. It's so cute!

Hey- I wear a toe ring. :(
