You've Been Thinking and I've Been Drinking, We Both Know that it's Just Not Right

Anytime Aaron gets sent on a business trip, I get my panties in a bunch and start acting all sensitive.

Being a girl totally sucks sometimes. Damn motherfuckin' hormones.

This weekend we set up Griffin's Aquasaurs.

Which is really a fancy pants way of saying triops, which have three eyes (ewwww), a forked tail (gross), 140 legs (nasty) and molt ::shudder:: multiple times in their short life span.

You know how some people have sensitivities to words like moist or panties? Mine is "molt." ::shudder:: That word is disgusting.

Anyway, we set everything up Saturday to achieve the proper temperature (because, you know, keeping creatures that have been around for 350 million years requires Very Sensitive Temperatures) and placed the egg/nutrient package in the water Sunday.

This morning we already have microscopic triops flicking about in the container.

Little white orangish specs spazzing around.

Having boys rocks.

Ewww! You said the P word twice in one post! But hey, molting science experiments/pets sound like fun!

Are they like sea monkeys? I was so disappointed with those when I was little. They weren't wearing little crowns and stuff, like on the package.

oh, gosh, there are so many words in that post that i don't like.

(please don't let my boys want to grow microscopic ancient creatures!)

We grew some of those last year. Our first batch died too soon, so we had to try again. You would think something that ancient and primeval would be just a little bit tougher.

They are pretty cool looking when they get big ... kind of like little horseshoe crabs. They're cannibals too.

This year I'm thinking about doing a praying mantis egg case. Yes, I'm nuts. But you already knew that.

Where do you get these amazing creatures? Max would totally love it!

I never understood what sea monkeys are either? Are they like microscopic shrimp?

(and i am dying at alicia's comment! i never owned the sea monkeys, but i admired them every time i was in the store. i think i liked their outfits most of all!)

I got quite attatched to the sea-monkeys we had last year. Then they died. Sad (but not sad enough to buy more!)

Our sea monkeys FINALLY died after a year! Yes, a year! I stopped feading them about 6 mo ago and they still lived. Last week I didn't see anything living, so I dumped it down the drail quickly. Lucas has still yet to discover that they are gone.

Well...molting things in the house, at least they're supposed to molt! I never had any sea monkeys either (my mom wouldn't even let me have a Baby Alive "I KNOW who will be changing THOSE diapers!") I had a friend that had some though...they went on vacation when he was a kid, and when he came home there was just one GIANT sea monkey...ewwwww

Good grief. They're canibals and breathe thru their feet. Awesome.

I just knew you'd love having a gaggle of boys...

Oh: I happen to be one of those people who is very squeamish when assaulted by the word "panties." And I do feel assaulted. I just hate it.

Molt, aquasars... sorry, they've got nothin' on panties (bleck.)I mean, do you call your boys undies "panties?" NO!! Why must we reserve this word for the "delicates" of girls.. esp. when it is often used in reference to the delicates of LITTLE GIRLS. My stomach turns now.
Plug my ears, and yell Molt, Molt, Molt.

Yep - sometimes having boys rocks!

(and thank you for the aquasaurs link - Schecky had come home sometime back talking about "these dinosaur things that live in a sea monkey tank" and I had no idea what he was talking about. Filing this one away for a birthday hint...)

(oooh - I just read some of the other comments? They're cannibals? This just gets better and better...)

Yes, what is it with the word panties? I've never liked it either ... always found it kind of annoying and cloying somehow. Give me a molting creature with three eyes and too damn many legs any day.
