When the World is Running Down You Make the Best of What's Still Around

Stuff we've been up to this week....

baby blanket making (one down, two to go; Aaron's cousins are prolific breeders this summer)

crop share cleaning (the best way to clean those greens: soak in water with a little splash of vinegar - since white vinegar is made from wheat, I use either white wine vinegar or rice vinegar - the vinegar [God damn, how many times do I have to spell "vinegar"?] makes the bugs fully release the leaves)

storm watching (Kansas is becoming more like Hawaii with this everyday rain, only we don't have the rad surfing)

lego playing (of course)

waiting for the venus flytrap flower to open

Also, not pictured: spending the whole day in just Star Wars underpants (the little boys, not me), me having an allergic reaction to food (not sure which one but lo, it's not fun) and trying new recipes (zucchini bread + hit of lemon = yum).

Well, I don't know which line is better:

"prolific breeders"
or
"Kansas is becoming more like Hawaii"

Both made me laugh. You're never boring!

I love zucchini bread.
Why didn't you wear your Star Wars underpants?!

Your allergist needs to hook you up with some prednisone to keep at home for when you have a reaction. Mine hands out packets of the damn things like they're candy (and lately I've been sucking them down after every allergy shot). It makes life much happier. If only they could come up with a non-drowsy version of Benadryl. Ah, a girl can wish!

Wow, I have never seen a flytrap flower, do you have a close up of the flower?

wow, thanks for the vinegar tip. I'm just about dying bringing the greens in from the garden after we discovered a spider in the bottom of the salad last year after my 14 yr old dd gathered it! I'm sitting there washing each individual piece!
