Because I'm all the kids are going to school! I'm going to have time to Do Stuff and somehow that translated to making a quilt? Um.... feel free to look into mental institutions for me, okay?
Step one: pinking the edges before washing. I full expect this to take a week.
After all, we are talking about me here. You know this project is going to cause me to cry and suck my thumb. You're crazy to expect otherwise.

I never prewash my fabrics. I like the shrinkage to happen after it has been quilted. Helps achieve that beautiful crinkly look that I love about quilts. But, many people do prewash.

I love the colors! Don't bother with the pinking. I used to do that, and then I stopped and I noticed absolutely no difference in the unraveling during washing. I'd do one prewash to prevent bleeding. It'll still crinkle. You don't want to work forever on a quilt and have red streaks on it.

Ooh, pretty. and why pink? just straight stitch along the edge. That'll keep it from fraying.
Don't pink! If you decide to prewash, just take all the fabric out with scissors handy and cut all the frayed threads off. It's fun! LOL I go back and forth on prewashing. I've got a couple in the works that a mix of prewashed and not prewashed. We'll see how it comes out.
What pattern are you using?
just echoing the 'don't bother to pink' remarks. Don't bother! Unless these are really small snippets of fabric and you really think they are going to get tangled up and snarly.
